Bangkok, Thailand – The European Union (EU) is set to host a two-day Export Promotion Seminar in Bangkok, Thailand on June 7-8, 2023. The event will take place at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel ‘The Surawongse’ and will provide an interactive platform for Thai importers, EU exporters, Chambers of Commerce, major retail chains, the HORECA sector, competent authorities, consumer organisations, related media and others to discover the excellent qualities of EU products.Participants in the seminar will have the opportunity to join His Excellency Mr David Daly, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand, and other high-level officials from the EU and Thailand for two days seminars in which he/she will become more familiar with EU food safety and quality production standards. The seminar will also explore the related business opportunities for both EU and Thailand.
“We are delighted to bring the EU Export Promotion Seminar to Bangkok, Thailand, to provide a platform for Thai importers, Chambers of Commerce, major retail chains, the HORECA sector, competent authorities and others interested in excellent quality products from Europe to engage in discussions and debates with high-level officials from the EU and Thailand,” Mr Daly said. “This event is important for both Thai importers and EU producers as it presents a unique opportunity to explore the benefits of EU food safety and quality production standards, and related business opportunities for both EU and Thailand. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this exciting event and to strengthening the EU-Thailand bilateral relationship through trade,” he added.
Interactive presentations on a range of topics
The seminar will feature interactive presentations, roundtable debates, and product-oriented business sessions on various products, including fruit and vegetables, meat, wines, spirits, beers, confectionery, olive oil, and dairy. EU policymakers and agri-food experts will discuss how the safety, quality, authenticity, and sustainability of EU food and drink can offer excellent opportunities for businesses eager to pass on the EU’s guarantee of quality to their customers.
At the seminar, Thai importers and other participants will have the opportunity to learn about the EU’s Geographical Indications (GI) food quality labels, which protect the quality, tradition and know-how underpinning authentic European produce. The GI label ensures the authenticity of food heritage and culture for consumers wishing to try iconic products, while at the same protecting the traditional production methods of European producers.
The seminar will also include presentations from EU representatives and experts on EU standards concerning animal welfare, animal and plant health, traceability, animal identification, phytosanitary controls, and much more. The event will culminate in a Round Table discussion titled “How to boost EU-Thai trade on agri-food products” which will be an excellent opportunity for European and Thai representatives to share a pleasant and relaxed discussion about what makes the Thai market attractive while also looking at the challenges to foreign exporters.
In addition, the seminar will feature by chef Gerard Villaret Horcajo, Michelinstar chefs from Elements, inspired by Ciel Bleu at The Okura Prestige Bangkok who will be on hand at a special cooking session, turning top-quality EU ingredients into delicious dishes, allowing participants to experience the quality and excellent taste of EU food and drink for themselves.
